Advertising helps me decide

...was written on a t-shirt I saw once.

However what is this ad supposed to mean?:

"chew gum for bigger boobs"

Seriously?

The power of the web

On April 19th 2010 Evelyn Evelyn - Amanda Palmer's new conjoined twin sisters project was coming to Dublin for a show. On the same April 19th a big ash cloud decided to drift over Europe in order to prove how helpless and small humankind really is. Point taken however due to the ash cloud crisis the conjoined twin sisters had to be split as part of the band remained stranded in New York.

With half of Evelyn Evelyn missing the Dublin gig turned into an explosive one-woman-show signed Amanda Palmer with Jason Webley singing from NYC on a live webcam. Yes on a webcam.

Cause Amanda Palmer went online, used Twitter to borrow props and cameras and tripods to make the show work and then called Jason on Skype. And besides a great hour of improvised crazyness we experienced a premiere of "Fuck the Ashcloud" (written together with Neil Gaiman over the web in the last 24 hours)

Isn't internet cool? And the show must go on.

My latest gigs. A list:

Cold War Kids - good energetic indie rock, "St John" makes you shout
Nouvelle Vague - I love them because they make me emotional. And because they're so feminine and French.
Holy Fuck - definetly the future of electronic music. I lost count of the number of keyboards/synths they trashed.
Flogging Molly - a friend of mine said that at the end of the concert his underwear was torn. Yes we love the mosh pit.
Roots Manuva - people say he's been hit & miss lately. True but I only saw the "hit"
Jape - I was looking forward to this but, man, he was a bit...boring?
One Little Plane - Indie pop made in London. She is lovely.
Tracy Chapman - if it wasn't for the goddamn drunk knacker Irish ladies besides me who kept shouting I would have loooved this concert.
Dan Le Sac + Scroobius Pip - they are the future of electronic-preaching-hip-hop music or whatever the hell they are doing. Amazing
Birdy Nam Nam - they can surely spin that shit. Should be careful with their drinks though and friendlier witht the crowd.
Buraka Som Sistema - kuduro electro beats and one hell of a show. Loved them.
Apparat - hello Berlin. Can I stay forever?
Mos Def - trouble with big gigs is that the crowd is always crap. This time I had to fight a bunch of Swiss kids trying to be gangsta. Nothing wrong with being Swiss but Zurich is NOT Brooklyn!
Still one of the best live shows ever experienced.
Zion Train - turn those speakers louder and get ready to dub, dub, dub!
George Clinton - everybody should see the Funk Master before they die. It's a crazy unique show.
Lee Scratch Perry - 74 years old and more alive than anybody I know.
Cocorosie - not sure if Sierra was mad at Bianca or the other way around but they just did not seem to like each other that night. Made the show more interesting though. Bianca was surprisingly quiet while Sierra went completly crazy dancing at the end of the show.

Coming: NAS & Damien Marley, Beirut, Sharon Jones and Melt festival. Wish me luck.

Blog me

Seriously the new template designer from Blogger sucks. It does give you a lot more space to play with things and create more personalized templates but, let's be honest, whoever has enough time and patience to fool around with colours and layouts uses Wordpress. Blogger is the user-friendly platform for not-so-savy users or simply people who want to click twice and get over with it.

And the new templates are just ugly.

"Not too much sun in this country, is there?"

Having to deal with the infamous Irish weather got me complaining about it all the time. I realize though that for my Irish friends this has to be as annoying as it is for me when people complain about Gypsies, corruption or Dracula.

I apologize.

About me
